a pirate

todd conawayI have told many that I stopped writing poetry when I met my wife. I stopped because all of the things I needed from the writing came true. The stuff I wished for in writing became real. Hmmmm. I stopped dancing when I stopped drinking.  Is there some deep correlation?

My dad often said he was surprised at how dark my poems were when I seemed to be so happy all the time. I suppose the poems were one way to vent frustration in a way that did not make bricks go through televisions. Or cause fights. Poetry, like the guitar, were vehicles for ideas that helped me. Thank goodness.

I am a proud parent and blessed husband. That is who and what I am.

I get to work with teachers during the day and I get to help them develop experiences for their students that are meaningful. I am lucky.
